Revive Us30 Days of Prayer

REVIVE US! August 25-27, 2010

“Will you not revive us again,
that Your people may rejoice in You?
Show us Your unfailing love, O Lord,
and grant us Your salvation.
I will listen to what God the Lord will say;
He promises peace to His people, His saints -
but let them not return to their folly.
Surely His salvation is near
for those who fear Him
that His glory may dwell in our land.”
- Psalm 85:6-9

praying handsWhy are we praying?

Because God is calling us to be part of what he is already doing. He wants to revive us, awaken us, restore us, forgive us, strengthen us, and give us new life. And He is calling us to pray for this before it takes place. That way He receives all the thanks and praise for what happens. God is setting us up to give Him much more glory than if we hadn't prayed, or if we had only prayed about our personal concerns. Answered prayer could be God's favorite way of being glorified!

What are we praying for?

Perhaps you have felt a longing for refreshing in your own soul. Things, relationships, activities, business - life overall has become tiring, overwhelming, even fearful. All the things we have turned to before leave us empty, hurt, and broken. Nothing else will satisfy that longing but Jesus. We are praying that God will revive us and bring new, fresh life to our hearts, homes, and community.

man with arms upraisedOver the next 30 days we will pray using this prayer guide. On Fridays we will fast from 9am to 6pm asking God to give us a hunger and thirst for Him alone. (During your fast please drink plenty of water or juice.) We will pray for our family, friends, neighbors, and our community that they might also know Jesus and be revived!

God is already at work preparing hearts and minds to receive this Good News. Let us join together in prayer and ask, "Come Lord, Revive Us!"
