HONEST TO GOD

The expression "honest to God" implies more than just an exclamation to the truth of what we are saying. Yes, we should not "bear false witness" but rather we should "speak the truth in love" to those with whom we interact. However, I am not just talking about telling the truth as hard and as important as that is.

Being "honest to God" is about being authentic and real as well as allowing God to show you the truth about yourself. God wants you to understand who He is and who you can be through faith in Christ. His truth can liberate you from all that is false and foolish and His holy love can empower you for all that is good and true and noble.

Being honest to God, yourself and others is the first step to revival or spiritual renewal in your life. It begins when you acknowledge your need for God and confess your sins and turn from them with God's help to a new life filled with truth and love.

Start by answering this question: Do I really want God to change my life? Do I really want to be spiritually revived? Enough to allow God to change me? Just how alive to God and dead to sin do you really want to be?

Let's begin by being honest about where we are in relation to God and where we need to be. If we are honest to God, we will also be humble before God, and cry out for His mercy and grace!

Let's pray with the psalmist: "Search me, O God, and know my heart today. Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray. See if there be some wicked way in me; cleanse me from every sin and set me free!"

Come Lord, revive us in your truth!

"It gave me great joy to have some brothers come and tell about your faithfulness to the truth and how you continue to walk in the truth." -3 John 1:3
