Have you ever seen those TV commercials where people are singing and dancing together in a fast food restaurant? Employees and customers alike all get caught up in the music and you are given the impression this would be a fun place to dine or pick up a meal! But it never occurred to me that such a scene would happen in real life until a couple of weeks ago. I was waiting in line at the KFC/Taco Bell and the song "Lean on Me" was playing in the background and the cashier began to sway with the music and I began to sway with the music and those behind me joined in and another employee came from behind the counter and began to dance and all of a sudden it was like being in our own music video!

One of the employees didn't want to stop but another employee suggested that since my order was up that I might want to eat, and besides there was a change in songs. "Lean on Me' is one of those songs that is hard not to sing along and when you sing it is hard not to put some movement into it.

The song talks about leaning on your brother and giving a helping hand to each other.

helping handsOne of our church's favorite hymns is "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." We are supposed to lean on Jesus and we are also supposed to be able to lean on our Christian brothers and sisters when the burden gets too heavy for us to carry alone.

There is power in numbers, in community, in unity of spirit, mutual caring and support. Christ gives us the strength and comfort we need and He invites us to share that comfort and strength with others in their time of need.
