John and Lisa Hamilton Field Leadership
John and Lisa Hamilton are the OMS team leaders for Uruguay. After serving 10 years in various pastoral and team roles in Bogota, Colombia and Medellin, Colombia, John and Lisa moved to Montevideo in early 2003. The OMS team in Uruguay is currently working in partnership with Christ Church, an international, interdenominational church in Carrasco, an eastern suburb of Montevideo.
In addition to leading the team, John serves as lead pastor for Christ Church. The church has nearly a century of history and is going through a revitalization which includes a strong children’s ministry and new ministry initiatives in Spanish. In addition to mentoring relationships with emerging leaders in the church community, Lisa participates in counseling, children’s ministries, and women’s discipleship.
OUMC contributes annually to John and Lisa Hamilton’s ministry.
The mission of OMS International is to establish and support mature Christ-centered churches among the nations. Our founders believed that “a nation can best be won by its own sons and daughters.” Thus, our mission is to build strong, indigenous, self-governed churches and train nationals to pastor these churches.
OMS started in 1901 as The Oriental Missionary Society. Having expanded our vision beyond the Orient to all the world, today we are simply known as OMS International.
